Jo Su-mi and Andrea Bocelli to Perform at World Cup

Soprano Jo Su-mi and blind tenor Andrea Bocelli will perform on the eve of the 2002 World Cup opening on May 30 at the Peace Square in front of the Seoul World Cup Stadium. However, an anticipated joint concert of three sopranos, Jo with Shin Young-ok and Hong Hye-kyung, will not be possible.

Jo and Bocelli will bring harmony together in a classical program at the ceremony. Italian singer Bocelli is an international star who sold over four million copies of his 'Romanza' album in 1997, which includes a duet "Time to Say Good-bye" with musical diva Sarah Brightman.

The ceremony will be made up of overture, classical and popular music programs, a choral performance, and Korean American chamber ensemble the Ahn Trio, three sisters, violinist Angella and twins, pianist Lucia and cellist Maria.
