National Choir to Perform 'Carmina Burana'
The National Choir and local municipal choruses will stage a 'World Cup D-100 Concert' on February 20 in Seoul Arts Center at 7:30pm as an official cultural event for FIFA and KOWOC. The main featured piece will be Carl Orff's masterpiece "Carmina Burana" with Japanese soprano Emy Hishiki and Korean tenor Shin Dong-ho singing the solo leads along with German baritone Henrik Bohm and Budapest Academic Choral Society (Hungary) Conductor Gabor Holerung (pictured).

The municipal choirs of Gwangju, Daegu, Daejeon, Busan and Incheon will sing jointly with the National Choir while the Korean Symphony Orchestra provides the music.

'Carmina Burana' is composed of a sequence of Medieval Latin lyrics and Bavarian peasant plays in dialect spiced with paradox and brutality in combination. It features primitive energy and percussive rhythm.
