'Slava' to Give First Seoul Recital
Countertenor Vytcheslav Kagan-Paley, better known as "Slava," visits Seoul for his first recital in Korea at 7:30pm January 23 at the Seoul Arts Center. Making his operatic debut in Benjamin Britten's opera "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Royal Opera House, London, in 1992, Slava gained international fame by his debut recording of Caccini and Schubert's "Ave Maria" in 1995.

Slava's Seoul performance will feature his signature interpretation of "Ave Maria" in the Caccini, Schubert, Gounod and Bizet versions, Grieg's "Solvejg's Song" and Schubert's "Lieder" from the 'Wintereise Collection,' combined with familiar jazz numbers such as "Summer Time" and movie theme songs including "Once Upon a Time in America" and "Gladiator," with piano accompaniment by Seoul National University Professor Jang Hyeong-jun.
