Veterans Call for Dispatch of Troops to Afghanistan

Korean Veterans Association Chairman Lee Sang-hoon urged the government Wednesday to take immediate action to dispatch troops to aid in the war against terrorism in Afghanistan following the terrorist attacks on America. Lee said in a statement that a month has passed since the war started in Afghanistan and the Taliban government has started to show signs of collapse, but the government has not yet taken an actual action to dispatch military forces. The statement insisted that the government should act out of a strong will against terrorism in order to let the world see about our military capability and to prevent terrorists attack prior to hosting the 2002 World Cup.
