Government and US representatives held a Foreign Affairs and Defense executive meeting at the Defense Center in the Ministry of National Defense Wednesday attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Han Seung-soo, Minister of National Defense Kim Dong-sin, US Ambassador Thomas Hubbard, and Commander in Chief of the USFK Thomas Schwartz, to discuss assistance plans for the US¡¯s retaliatory war against terrorism.
Defense ministry official said that Minister Han emphasized the collaboration of the two countries in their North Korean policies after the terror incident in the US, and Minister Kim explained the government¡¯s aid plan for the anti-terror war, including dispatching a non-combatant support team.
Ambassador Hubbard showed his appreciation for Seoul¡¯s prompt and active support for the tragic terrorist attacks, and conveyed the Washington¡¯s position on the issue of defense expense allocation, which will be discussed at the annual Security Council Meeting between the two countries.
