To stay on guard against possible terrorist attacks, a five-day defense drill kicked off Tuesday, comprising civilian, government and military forces. Dubbed the ‘2001 Hwarang Exercise,’ the joint drills will be held in the four major cities of Seoul, Busan, Ulsan and Daegu, as well as in the southern and northern areas of Kyongsang Province.

Unlike conventional exercises, authorities say the drills will include defense measures against aerial attacks, chemical and biological warfare and will be held mostly during night times to minimize public inconvenience.
