Seoul Sends Aid Package to Afghanistan

The government announced Friday it is taking part in the ongoing global fight against terrorism, sending five C-130 aircraft belonging to the South Korean Air Force to Afghanistan carrying relief goods for refugees. The first batch of supplies to the region includes about 2,000 and 1,000 articles of winter clothing worth over US$1 million. This is the fourth time the multipurpose transport planes were mobilized for overseas operations since the Gulf War in 1991. The planes are expected to arrive in Islamabad Friday evening local time.
