Bush Postpones Seoul Visit

President George W. Bush has canceled his visit to Seoul, scheduled for October 18, and postponed Tokyo and Peking visits also according to White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer Tuesday (local time), who said his travel plans to Asia in October have been altered due to the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.

Press Secretary Fleischer added that the US President will attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum to be held in Shanghai on October 20 and 21, as planned, but his state visit to Korea and Japan will be rescheduled when circumstances permit

Before attending the APEC leaders meeting on October 20, President Bush was scheduled to make a stop in Korea on October 18 for a summit meeting with President Kim Dae-jung on his first visit to Asia since his inauguration, following a Tokyo visit.
