Civic Group Opposes US Action on Afghanistan

The Solidarity Network, a body of 283 civic organizations nationwide, announced Monday that they opposed US retaliatory attacks on Afghanistan, insisting that Washington should use all its efforts to crack down on racial and unfair discrimination, and poverty. In a press conference at the Zelkova Cafe in Anguk-dong Seoul they urged the government not to support a war under any circumstance as long as evidence is unclear. They said the terrorist attacks should not develop into a war that will only bring about a vicious cycle of bloodshed, adding that they will promote anti-war activities to stop Japan becoming a stronger military power by networking with other Asian nations.
