Koreans Divided Over US Response to Terrorist Attacks

According to a recent poll on global reaction following the terrorist attacks on the US, two out of five Koreans say they would support US action against military targets, compared with 77% in Israel and 72% in India. On September 15, Korea Gallup and Gallup International surveyed 16,000 people in 30 countries (domestic sample of 1060 adults) on "How, in your opinion, will the US administration react to the terrorists act?" Some 54% respondents answered the US government should solve the problem in humane way while 38% were in favor of an immediate attack.

In the matter of joining US retaliation, Koreans are divided into 46% favoring joining a war, while 42% are against this.

The approval rate for war stood at 66% in Israel, following that of Britain (79%) and France (73%), while 62% of respondents in Pakistan opposed war.

Meanwhile, 82% of Koreans answered the US tragedy would put the global economy in danger. Similar concerns were also high in Peru and Mexico, recording 91% and 86%, respectively.
