
The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has handed down a W113 million penalty to discount retailer Carrefour Korea for failing to pay suppliers on time and unfairly demanding that they shoulder marketing expenses. In one example, the FTC said that that the local branch of the French-based hypermarket coerced 15 food item suppliers into footing the W25-million bill for its 35th anniversary ceremony last November.
