The annual lantern festival is under way at the Cheonggye Stream in downtown Seoul. The stream will be aglow with more than 80 lanterns from 5 to 9 p.m. every night until Dec. 5.
The festival, which is marking its 13th year, is being held under the theme of "Forest of Healing, the Colors of Seoul." It is one of the most beloved winter events in the capital region.
In compliance with quarantine rules, visitors must have their temperatures checked when entering the 700-m walkway along which the lanterns are displayed.
Last year, the festival was held in Seoul's four commercial districts -- Dongdaemun, Itaewo, Jamsil and Myeong-dong -- to give a boost to businesses amid the coronavirus pandemic, but it has returned to its original venue of the Cheonggye Stream this year.
People who can't make it to the festival can visit the Seoul Tourism Organization's website for a virtual tour.
