Asiana Airlines will reopen flights to Guam for the first time in 18 years as demand for the remote U.S. territory rises thanks to a travel bubble.

The flag carrier will run two flights per week on Thursdays and Sundays on a new 188-seater Airbus A321neo from Dec. 23, according to a spokesperson on Monday.

"We ran the Guam route until 2003 but stopped because profitability dropped," the spokesperson said. "We decided to reopen it for the first time in 18 years due to increasing demand for travel since the bubble opened."

Travelers need a vaccination certificate in English and a negative COVID-19 test result to enter Guam and travel freely without quarantine.
