Swimmer Hwang Sun-woo to Dive Straight into Professional Career

Swimmer Hwang Sun-woo has decided to skip college and advance his athletic career by turning pro.

Still a high school senior, the 18-year-old will soon represent Gangwon Province in preparation for next year's FINA World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan and Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Hwang burst onto the global stage at this year's Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where he shattered the Asian record and world junior record of 47.56 seconds for the 100-m freestyle.
