Hyundai's Santa Cruz has been named this year's best pickup truck by the U.S.' Northwest Automotive Press Association, the automaker said Thursday.
The Santa Cruz, recently released in the U.S., won because it "boasts bold yet sophisticated design, efficient powertrain options, a flexible open bed for gear, cutting-edge connectivity, and a highly maneuverable all-wheel drive platform."
Cars were tested for acceleration, handling, braking and rear-view cameras.
"Its bold styling coupled with secure open-bed flexibility meets the changing everyday needs of adventure-oriented buyers, while powerful engines and superb maneuverability ensure it is a pleasure to drive in urban or off-road environments," the carmaker said in a press release.
The Santa Cruz was also the fastest-selling new car in August in the U.S., according to automotive research website iSeeCars.com.
The car takes an average of eight days to sell on dealers' lots, faster than the Chevrolet Corvette (8.3 days) and the Mercedes-Benz GLS (8.7 days).
