Daegu has been chosen as the future hub of robotics in Korea.

The government has set aside a budget of W300 billion to be spent from 2023 to 2029 on robotics including a data center and a test site focusing on service robots (US$1=W1,170).

The aim is to push a new market for service robotics by establishing infrastructure to nurture and regulate the robot industry.

Daegu was selected because it has carried out several projects for robotics development already while offering its new city hall building as well as a special industrial zone for field tests of service robots, self-driving cars and artificial intelligence-based experiments.

The city hopes to become a leader in global robotics and robot infrastructure, creating over 10,000 jobs there by 2030.
