St. Louis Cardinals starter Kim Kwang-hyun earned his fourth win of the season on Saturday, throwing six scoreless innings while giving up five hits and striking out seven in a game against the Chicago Cubs.
The Cardinals beat the Cubs 6-0 in the away game at Chicago's Wrigley Field. Kim lowered his ERA from 3.39 to 3.11 in his 15th start.
After having a difficult time at the beginning of the season, Kim won his last three starts before the All-Star break, throwing 15 consecutive scoreless innings. He gave up one run in five innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 30 and pitched seven scoreless innings against the San Francisco Giants on July 5.
"I'll focus on keeping myself in good form so that I can carry this momentum into the second half of the season," Kim said.
Kim also recorded one hit in two at-bats, increasing his batting average to 0.150.
Meanwhile, MLB.com raised the possibility of Kim being traded. "Kim resembles the Cardinals' top trade chip, a lefty with a lengthy history of success and a contract that is affordable, just a $4 million annual value," it wrote.
