Some 70 to 75 percent of voters intend to cast their ballots in the April 7 mayoral by-elections in Seoul and Busan, a Chsun Ilbo poll finds.

Some 75.1 percent of respondents in Seoul said they will "definitely vote," while 18.6 percent said they will cast their ballots "if possible" and 5.7 percent were unsure or do not want to vote and 0.5 percent did not give an answer.

In Busan, 70.1 percent of voters said they will "definitely vote," while 21.5 percent said they cast their ballots "if possible."

More people siding with the opposition candidates want to cast their ballot.

Pollsters expect actual voter turnout to surpass 50 percent because it is always lower than these prediction polls.

In the past, younger voters tended to support the Minjoo Party. But pundits say things could be different this time as recent polls showed voters in their 20s and 30s disillusioned with the ruling party.

According to the National Election Commission, 12.16 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots on April 7 -- 8.43 million in Seoul and 2.94 million in Busan.
