Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, won the Global Recording Artist of the Year Award from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, an organization that represents the recorded music industry worldwide.
The boys won the prestigious award as it topped the organization's Global Artist Chart.
They are the first Asian act to win the award, as well as the first winner to perform primarily in a language other than English, since the organization began bestowing it in 2013.
The IFPI on Thursday applauded the boys, saying, "They truly show the power that music has to bring joy and happiness to people the world over."
They have enjoyed some major achievements, becoming the first Korean pop act to reach the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, as well as securing their first major Grammy nomination.
American singer Taylor Swift was second on the chart while Canadian rapper Drake was third.
