Samsung Opens Website for Workers' Grievances

Samsung Electronics has opened an anonymous site on its intranet where management can answer complaints.

The move is part of the electronic giant's attempt to communicate better with millennials on its staff who expect a more open workplace culture than older salarymen.

Complaints or suggestions drawing "likes" from more than 5,000 staff within a month must be answered by senior management. The measure is similar to petitions posted on the presidential office's website.

More than 20 posts were put up in the month since the site opened, and one of them, a security complaint, was answered by an executive on Wednesday.

"The purpose is to listen to what millennial employees have to say, since people from that generation are not hesitant about voicing their views," a staffer said. "Even if a post fails to draw support from more than 5,000 employees, we intend to respond if it's important."

But given that some 100,900 people work for the company in Korea alone, the number of posts is small.

Other Samsung affiliates have done the same. Samsung Electro-Mechanics opened a similar site last year.
