Hyundai's compact sedan Elantra was named the Car of the Year in the U.S.
Elantra (sold as the Avante in Korea) was chosen as one of the winners of the 2021 North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) Awards on Monday.
The awards were held virtually due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Ford took two of the three awards, with its F-150 and Mustang Mach-E winning in the truck and utility vehicle segments, respectively.
The winners of the prestigious awards, presented annually since 1994, were judged by some 50 automotive journalists in the U.S. and Canada.
