Director Im Sang-soo will make his Hollywood debut with a film adaptation of the crime novel "Soho Sins" by American writer Richard Vine.
Production company Yeolmae Entertainment said in a press release on Monday that Im will direct the film, which it will produce jointly with 2W Network Entertainment. The latter was founded by Donna Smith, who served as production president at Universal Pictures, becoming the first woman to serve in that role in a major Hollywood studio.
Im is one of the most critically acclaimed Korean filmmakers.
He has been invited to the Cannes Film Festival four times -- with "The President's Last Bang" in 2005, "The Housemaid" in 2010, "The Taste of Money" in 2012 and "Heaven: To the Land of Happiness" in 2020.
Pre-production for the new film will start in July.
