Son Heung-min has scored his 100th goal for Tottenham Hotspur since joining the English Premier League club in 2015.
The landmark goal came as Spurs beat Leeds United 3-0 in a home match in London on Jan. 2.
Son had been scoreless in his previous three matches.
Tottenham were up 1-0 in the 43rd minute when Son ran toward the goal after Harry Kane took possession of the ball. Noticing Son's movement, Kane passed the ball to Son, who sprinted past a defender and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to double Spurs' lead.
It was the 12th EPL goal of the season for Son, who is now just one goal behind league leader Mohamed Salah of Liverpool. In the 50th minute, Toby Alderweireld headed in a corner kick from Son, putting the latter in fifth place in assists. Son now has 15 goals and eight assists in all competitions including the Europa League this season.
The win lifted Spurs from seventh to third in the league table.
"I'm very happy for him. I'm very happy that now people realize the player he is, to be scoring 100 goals for Tottenham and to be maybe in the top three Premier League scorers without penalties," Spurs' manager Jose Mourinho said in a post-match interview.
Five of Salah's 13 goals and three of Kane's 10 have come from penalties. Of Son's 100 goals for Spurs, only one came from a penalty, and one was a rebound after a failed penalty attempt. He scored the other 98 goals based purely on his speed and clinical execution in front of the net.
Son is the 18th player to score 100 goals for Tottenham, for which he has appeared in 253 matches over six seasons. He is the first non-British or Irish player to have achieved the feat.
