The latest in a series of videos produced by the Korea Tourism Organization and aimed at global viewers who are unable to travel due to the coronavirus pandemic focuses on the eastern coastal city of Gangneung, Gangwon Province.
The recently uploaded video shows American YouTuber Katie Renae and a tour guide visiting restaurants, historic sites and other destinations in the city.
First, they visit a bus stop at Hyangho Beach, which became something of a pilgrimage site for K-pop fans after boy band Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, shot the album cover for "You Never Walk Alone."
They also try local delicacies at a tofu restaurant and taste a variety of snacks like soft tofu and black sesame-flavored gelato. Their reactions and expressions of excitement bring added fun to viewers.
Their final destinations are Sungyojang, a traditional house with a thatched roof, and Ojukheon, where Chosun-era artist Shin Saimdang lived and gave birth to a renowned Confucian scholar.
Throughout the virtual tour, they share information about all the places they visit.
