The government has pledged US$10 million to a World Health Organization program to ensure developing countries' access to coronavirus vaccines.
The Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that Korea will donate the money to the COVAX Advance Market Commitment, a global initiative that aims to ensure equitable distribution of coronavirus vaccines once they've been developed.
The program aims to secure 1 billion doses for lower-income countries by the end of next year. Some 92 developing countries are expected to benefit from the program, including North Korea.
