Korea will play a friendly match against Mexico in Austria next month.
The Korea Football Association said the match will be held on Nov. 15, with the exact venue to be decided later. It will be the first such match in almost a year, after a long break due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Head coach Paulo Bento is expected to summon key Korean footballers playing in Europe, such as Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur, Hwang Hee-chan of RB Leipzig and Hwang Ui-jo of FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
The upcoming match will serve as a tune-up to assess the overall form of the Korean national team ahead of the second round of Asian qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The KFA said it is in talks to organize other away matches, possibly against Arab countries.
