Hotels and departments stores are gearing up for a socially distanced Chuseok, offering food for ancestral rites as well as traditional meal sets.

The Grand InterContinental Seoul hotel is offering a traditional food set for Chuseok cooked by its chefs.

A set serving four to five people will cost an eye-watering W790,000 (US$1=W1,169).

Lotte and Shinsegae department stores are also offering traditional holiday food sets with dishes like sanjeok (grilled seasoned beef), assorted jeon (Korean pancakes) and different-colored vegetable dishes at a price of W250,000 per set.

For singles, they are preparing lunch boxes for W35,000.

"We have tripled the kinds of traditional food products compared to last year because food consumption at home is bound to increase due to the lockdown this Chuseok holiday," a Shinsegae staffer said.
