North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has sent medicine and other supplies to a flood-hit region in North Hwanghae Province, state media reported Monday.
Locals received them "with applause and cheers," the official Rodong Sinmun daily claimed.
Kim visited the area on Aug. 7, emerging from a brand-new Lexus, to see the devastation for himself. At the time he unusually ordered the release of grain from military as well as his own special stockpiles to be given to flood victims.
Meanwhile, senior North Korean officials have pledged to complete all flood damage restoration work by Oct. 10, the anniversary of the Workers Party.
