Police report an alarming rise in crimes by peeping Toms, especially among the young.
According to the National Police Agency on Monday, the number of crimes involving hidden cameras at schools increased from 77 in 2015 to 173 in 2018.
The figures for 2019 have not been complied yet but they show steady upward trend.
Out of 451 hidden-camera crimes from 2015 to 2018, 52 percent occurred in Seoul, surrounding Gyeonggi Province and Incheon.
The total number rose from 3,961 in 2015 to 5,497 in 2018. The number of perpetrators under 19 increased from 411 or 10.4 percent of all offenders to 885 or 16.1 percent over the period.
The rate of repeat offenses also rose from 6.3 percent to 8.4 percent.
