The families of South Koreans abducted by North Korea during the Korean War filed a lawsuit on Thursday against North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The families are seeking W342 million in compensation for physical and psychological damage suffered by both the victims and their descendants (US$1=W1,205).
The lawsuit was filed by 13 people at the Seoul Central District Court.
A lawyer representing the plaintiffs said, "Abductions in wartime violate the Geneva Convention, which prohibits forced detention. The government has done nothing during the last 70 years to solve this problem, so we decided to file a lawsuit."
