Beachgoers can now check online how congested famous beaches nationwide are.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will launch a website with updates when most beaches open on July 1, according to a spokesman on Thursday.

The website will start with the top 10 beaches -- Dadaepo, Gwangalli, Haeundae, Songdo and Songjeong in Busan, Daecheon in South Chungcheong Province, Gyeongpodae, Naksan, Samcheok and Sokcho in Gangwon Province -- and extend it to another 50 in the middle of July.

Congestion updates will show traffic light colors using big data from KT to project the optimum number of people per area.

The signal turns green for less than 100 percent, yellow for 100-200 percent and red for over 200 percent. The URL is www.seantour.kr.
