Park In-bee and Ryu So-yeon will face off against Lydia Ko and Pernilla Lindberg in a virtual intercontinental match-play competition next week.
The LPGA announced Wednesday that the match featuring the four major champions will be presented in partnership with GOLFZON, a leading golf simulator company.
Park and Ryu will play in Daejeon, Korea while Ko and Lindberg will join from the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, Florida on May 25.
The 36-hole competition will consist of an 18-hole foursomes match and another 18-hole four-ball match.
The Black Course at Bethpage State Park, where the PGA Championship was held last year, was chosen as the virtual venue. The winning team will win US$10,000, which will be donated to a charity working on COVID-19 (US$1=W1,231).
Park, a seven-time LPGA major champion, said, "Since the LPGA Tour stopped due to COVID-19, it's amazing that real-time match play is possible with our fellow players in other parts of the world. I can't wait to entertain golf fans all over the globe through this match."
The match will be broadcast live on GOLFZON's YouTube channel and Naver TV Live.
The LPGA Tour is now planning to resume with the Marathon Classic in Sylvania, Ohio on July 23, but it could change again if the coronavirus lockdown continues there.
