Actor Yang Se-jong began his 21 months of mandatory military service on Tuesday by quietly entering an Army boot camp.
Yang's agency on Monday said the actor wanted to keep it quiet without any farewell events but left a message for his fans on his fan site.
"Everyone should be careful of their health at this time [of coronavirus], so I hope you will send me off from wherever you are. I know you would want to come and say goodbye to me in person, but please do me and yourselves a favor," he wrote. "I'm sorry I cannot say a proper goodbye, but I will come back a healthier and stronger man. Thanks to your support and love, I have been able to work hard. I wish you health and happiness."
Having made his debut in a short film in 2013, Yang emerged as a rising star after appearing in the TV series "Saimdang, Memoir of Colors" in 2016. Since then he has quickly established himself as a top-notch actor by starring in one TV series after another.
