A salary cap will be imposed on baseball teams, the Korea Baseball Organization said on Tuesday.
The KBO said it decided to limit the amount of money each team can spend on players' salaries starting from 2023. The cap will be set at 120 percent of the average salary of the 40 highest-paid players per team and will be adjusted every three years.
This is to prevent rich clubs from signing a bunch of expensive star players and to tackle a "bubble" that can arise due to overheated competition among clubs in order to acquire certain players.
