Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur has been named Korea's best footballer of the year.
The Korea Football Association gave the honor to Son at a ceremony in Seoul on Thursday. Son earned 209 points in a vote by 50 sports journalists and 14 technical professionals, edging out runner-up Lee Kang-in of Valencia CF with 69 points.
Son has now won the award a record four times after receiving it in 2013, 2014 and 2017, surpassing three-time winner Ki Sung-yueng of Newcastle United.
In all competitions including the English Premier League and English Football League Cup, Son has scored 10 goals and recorded nine assists in 21 matches so far this season.
Ji So-yun of Chelsea was named best female player. She has scored six goals in 12 matches for Korea this year.
