Yang Hyun-suk, the former CEO of YG Entertainment, and fallen pop idol Seung-ri of K-pop boy band Big Bang still face charges of gambling overseas.

Police said Thursday that a months-long investigation found that the two visited Las Vegas once or twice a year since 2014 to gamble and spent hundreds of millions of won in casinos. They sent the case to prosecutors, who will decide whether to indict them or not.

Under Korean law, gambling is a criminal offense even in foreign countries where it is perfectly legal.

The two have admitted gambling overseas, according to police, but investigators have been unable to establish a paper trail of any money being illegally transferred out of Korea for them to gamble with.

A police spokesman said, "We searched through financial records, currency trading records and accounting books of [YG Entertainment's] U.S. subsidiary within the last five years, which is the legally-authorized period, but were unable to find any violations."

Earlier, pimping charges against Yang were dropped due to lack of evidence. He had been accused of providing prostitutes to wealthy foreign clients.
