Hyundai said Monday it has developed the world's first artificial intelligence-based cruise control, a system that automatically controls the speed of a vehicle.
The AI-based autonomous driving technology will also enable a vehicle to take into account motorists' driving patterns or behaviors to automatically adjust or maintain distance from the vehicle ahead.
The automaker plans to feature the new technology in the first SUV under its premium brand Genesis, the GV80, which is set to be released early next month, and the G80 sedan, which hits showrooms early next year.
Hyundai is preparing to file patent applications for the technology in Korea, China and the U.S.
