Naturalized marathoner Wilson Loyanae Erupe is expected to represent Korea at next year's Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Erupe, who was born in Kenya, finished second in the Gyeongju International Marathon on Sunday in a time of 2:08.42 -- under the 2:11.30 required to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.

He will secure a berth for the Olympics unless there are at least three Koreans who break Erupe's record by the end of May next year. And the odds are on his side, as no Korean runner has broken the 2 hours and 12 minutes barrier since 2011.

It was the Kenyan-born marathoner's first official race since becoming a Korean citizen last year. His Korean name is Oh Joo-han.
