Exports will further worsen in the upcoming quarter, the Korea International Trade Association said Tuesday.

Based on a survey of 975 exporters, the association said the index gauging the prospect of exports for the fourth quarter of this year was projected at 94.9, down 0.6 points from the previous quarter.

If the index is higher than 100, it means that companies optimistic about future conditions outnumber those that are not.

Prospects were gloomy for exports of semiconductor chips, plastic and rubber materials, steel and machinery.
