Lee Hae-in has returned home with a gold medal from the International Skating Union Junior Grand Prix in Latvia.
Lee scored 130.70 points in the free skate on Friday -- 70.13 points in the technical element score and 60.57 points in the program component score.
With 66.93 points from the short program the day before, Lee finished with 197.63 points, ahead of runner-up Daria Usacheva of Russia, who got 194.40 points.
It is the first time since now-retired Kim Hae-jin in 2012 that a Korean skater won a gold medal at a Junior Grand Prix event. Lee also set a new record for the highest score for a Korean skater on the Junior Grand Prix circuit, which was 196.34 points set by Kim Ye-lim.
Lee, who returned to Korea on Sunday, said, "I think I was able to get a good result because I skated with no pressure in the free skate."
