The Korean Society of Pathologists on Thursday rescinded a research paper that listed justice-minister nominee Cho Kuk's daughter as a lead writer although she had only interned at Dankook University for two weeks after research was long finished.
Jang Se-jin, the head of the KSP, said the decision was made for three reasons -- that it did had no approval from the Institutional Review Board, which assesses research ethics, that it falsely stated that it did, and that the role of each author was unclear.
The paper was one reason Cho's daughter was later admitted to Korea University.
Korea University said last month that it would look into whether any discrepancies in the research paper could lead to the cancellation of her degree. Once that is canceled, her admission to Pusan National University's medical school would also be voided.
