Lingling, this year's 13th typhoon formed east of the Philippines on Monday, is expected to hit the Korean Peninsula on Friday and Saturday.
Lingling was moving north from waters some 500 km northeast of Manila at a speed of about 33 km/h as of 3 p.m. Monday, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
It is a small typhoon with a central pressure of 1,000 hPa and a maximum wind speed of 65 km/h. Lingling is expected to arrive waters near southernmost island of Jeju on Friday.
It will bring heavy rains across the country all week.
