The honeymoon between North Korea and China is deepening as both countries are increasingly at loggerheads with the U.S.
There is speculation that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will visit China next month, given that senior officials from the two countries have visited each other's country since Chinese President Xi Jinping's trip to Pyongyang in June.
But first Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visits Pyongyang this week, where he is expected to meet with his North Korean counterpart Ri Yong-ho and Kim.
They are expected to discuss a concerted response to U.S. pressure.
Meanwhile, Ri will not be attending the UN General Assembly later this month in New York, scuppering hopes that he could meet U.S. Secretary Mike Pompeo there and try to break the deadlock in bilateral negotiations.
