North Korean state media have gone into overdrive publicizing their leader Kim Jong-un's activities to shore up the regime's stranglehold on power.

The North's Korean Central Television on Sunday night showed Kim traveling to a rocket launch site in Sondok, South Hamgyong Province. He was seen riding in a small boat accompanied by deputy directors of the Workers Party and Kim Chang-son, his de facto chief of staff.

Other images also showed him dipping his feet in shallow water, helped by soldiers, and walking on the lawn with his younger sister Yo-jong.

That morning, the official Rodong Sinmun plastered no fewer than 18 photos over its pages of Kim watching the test of a multiple rocket launcher.

The North seems to be trying to show how unfazed and determined Kim is in developing nuclear and other weapons amid the stalled denuclearization talks while U.S. President Donald Trump has brushed off concerns over the missile tests.
