Another remake of a Disney animated classic, "The Lion King," has attracted more than 2 million viewers in just five days since its release last Wednesday, a record pace for a Disney film in Korea.
According to the Korean Film Council, the film set an opening day sales record for a Disney movie with 300,000 tickets sold. It then went on to dominate the local box office over the weekend, drawing 1.74 million moviegoers.
The accumulated number of viewers stood at 2.28 million as of Sunday.
The remake of the 1994 hit film features photorealistic computer graphics blended with songs from the original soundtrack and a couple of brand new songs.
