Typhoon Danas is expected to make landfall in Korea on Saturday afternoon.
The Korea Meteorological Administration on Thursday forecast that the typhoon coupled with a monsoon front will soak most parts of the country over the weekend.
Mountainous parts of Jeju Island are expected to see more than 700 mm of rainfall, and the southern coast and Mt. Jiri more than 500 mm.
The KMA said Danas was heading north 270 km northeast of Taipei as of 4 p.m. Thursday.
It is a small typhoon with a barometric pressure of 990 hPa at its core.
At the present rate, it is expected to arrive 150 km off the coast of Seogwipo in Jeju on Saturday morning and move up to the southwestern port city of Yeosu at around 3 p.m. that day.
But due to its small size, Danas is not expected to bring heavy storms.
