Korea's largest genre film festival kicked off in Bucheon, west of Seoul on Thursday. The 23rd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival features 284 films from 49 countries during its 11-day run.
Opening the festival was the Mexican thriller "The Gasoline Thieves," which revolves around a naive teenager who steals gasoline to make some cash after joining a gang.
This year's festival includes a retrospective honoring actress Kim Hye-soo, whose illustrious career in showbiz spans more than 30 years. Ten of her films will be screened including "Tazza: The High Rollers" (2006), "The Thieves" (2012) and "Default" (2018).
The Korean mystery thriller "The 12th Suspect," which depicts a psychological battle between a detective and 12 suspects in a murder case, will close the festival.
