Artificial intelligence will be used to help interview candidates for non-commissioned officers starting this month, a military spokesman said Tuesday.
The AI-assisted interview will be expanded to select all military officers by 2022.
An AI-based interview takes about 60 minutes, with the interviewee introducing him or herself by microphone and webcam and playing games in about five different fields of interest.
The Army says it has assessed the results of civilian agencies' AI-based interviews and conducted its own trial interviews since last year to minimize problems.
"AI-based interviews will make it possible to prevent fraud during the recruitment process and recruit talented staff through objective and comprehensive evaluations," the spokesman claimed.
It can also help save costs and allow applicants to pick the best time for an online interview without having to travel to the interview venue in person.
