Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur returned to Korea on Monday after a sensational season in the English Premier League.

He appeared to still be recovering from Sunday's UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool in Madrid, in which he was the biggest threat in Tottenham's offense but was unable to prevent a 2-0 loss.

Fans cheered as soon as they spotted Son in the arrivals lounge at Incheon International Airport, but he only nodded in acknowledgement and swiftly left the airport with bodyguards without accepting requests for photos and autographs.

But Son posted a picture of himself on his Instagram looking dispirited with a runner-up medal around his neck with the winner's trophy behind him. He thanked his fans, writing, "We win together we lose together that is a Team. I'm so proud of being in this Team. We had a Fantastic season we will be stronger next season. Love you Guys."

Son is joining the Korean national team at the National Football Center in Paju, north of Seoul, on Tuesday morning to prepare for international friendlies against Australia in Busan on Friday and against Iran in Seoul next Tuesday.
