Ryu Hyun-jin of the Los Angeles Dodgers extended his scoreless streak to 31 innings while picking up his sixth win of the season in an away game against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

Ryu shut down the Reds' offense while allowing five hits and one walk, and striking out five over seven innings. The Dodgers won the game 8-3.

His varied repertoire of pitches including fastball, cutter, changeup, and curveball stifled the Reds' lineup. In his last four starts in May, Ryu picked up three wins and posted a remarkable ERA of 0.28.

The last time he allowed a run was in the bottom of the first inning against the San Francisco Giants on May 1. He went scoreless in the following seven innings that day.

In his next start on May 7, he won a complete shutout victory against the Atlanta Braves over nine innings, and pitched eight innings without giving up a run against the Washington Nationals on May 12.

Including Sunday's game against the Reds, Ryu has gone 31 innings without allowing a run, the 10th-longest streak in the Dodgers' history.

Ryu has lowered his ERA to 1.52 and has six wins, putting him at the top of the National League.

Ryu's biggest obstacle has been injuries. He sat out two years due to surgeries on his shoulder and elbow, and had to rest for three months due to groin pain.

Ryu has set a goal of 20 wins for this season.

Despite his strict regime to keep his best form, Ryu has some freedom when it comes to eating. Whenever the Dodgers are on an away trip, Ryu likes to visit famous local restaurants to relieve stress.
